Verge Regional Residency Program Goals

  • To connect artists working at a high level in their chosen discipline with other artists, innovators, thinkers, and creative practitioners in the Sacramento region.
  • To extend Verge's investment in the Sacramento community, establishing a conduit between the regional art community and the broader art world.
  • To elevate the work of local artists by providing a dedicated work space and supportive community.

Specifics 

Verge Center for the Arts is the leading cultural institution in the Sacramento region for contemporary art and ideas. Their mission is to extend the dialogue about contemporary art to the central valley. Verge supports this mission by providing vital resources to local career and emerging artists as well as offering arts education opportunities for youth and adults.

The 3-month Verge Residency is open to artists living locally (within a 35-mile radius of Sacramento).

VERGE Resident Receives:

  • Artist work studio at Verge Center for the Arts
  • $300 monthly stipend
  • Participation in Verge programming
  • Opportunity to continue a paid residency at the Verge at the close of VRRP (per availability)

Shared Resources:

  • Free admission to all Verge member programs
  • Access to a full service printmaking facility, kiln, and Risograph printer
  • WiFi 
  • A 300 square foot studio at Verge with 24hr access
  • Community of up to 55 artists working on site at Verge
  • North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Benefits
  • Free attendance to Verge special events which coincide with the residency term

Artist Expectations

  • Artists are encouraged to participate in and contribute to the artist community that exists at Verge and in Sacramento at large.
  • Artists are expected to spend at least 10 hours in their studio each week. 

Please note: Verge studios are private and are accessible to artists 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
